ABOUT

NISH CHAWLA, NCIDQ

Nish Chawla was born in Delhi, and from her first breath she carried the pulse of a vibrant city within her — a rhythm of temple bells and traffic hymns, of monsoon-washed stone and marigold-draped doorways. Delhi did not simply surround her; it imprinted her. It taught her that beauty is layered, that history lingers in walls, and that grandeur can live beside intimacy.

Her childhood unfolded like a film set — saturated, luminous, impossibly detailed. She was spellbound by the spectacle of Bollywood — sweeping staircases, mirrored halls, silks that moved like whispered secrets. Those cinematic worlds were her earliest design education. They revealed that space is emotion made visible, that architecture can ache, seduce, and celebrate all at once.

At twelve, she journeyed to the United States, crossing oceans yet carrying her inheritance of color, craft, and ceremony. She learned to exist between contrasts — the ornate and the restrained, the old world and the new. In that in-between space, her aesthetic voice began to form: disciplined yet romantic, structured yet soulful.

Though she never met her father, he was a furniture contractor with the Military Engineer Services in India — a builder of foundations, a shaper of wood and permanence. From him, perhaps, she inherited reverence for structure, for integrity beneath ornament. From her mother, who owned a high-end salon in Delhi, she absorbed another kind of artistry — transformation, polish, the subtle power of presentation.

In her early professional years her decade unfolded in the world of accounting and finance — a realm of precision, balance, and order. Numbers sharpened her discipline; structure became second nature. Eventually, she pursued a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture, surrendering fully to proportion, spatial poetry, and the choreography of materials. Later, she earned her NCIDQ licensure — not merely a credential, but a quiet vow to uphold excellence in design.

Travel remains her eternal muse. Each destination leaves a trace upon her vision — the romance of European façades, the carved serenity of Indian palaces, the restrained elegance of American modernism. She collects atmospheres, not souvenirs and studies how cultures gather, how they rest, and how they celebrate.

Today, her work is a dialogue between heritage and horizon. She designs spaces that feel storied yet current, opulent yet intentional. To her, luxury is not excess — it is emotion curated with precision. It is craftsmanship that whispers rather than shouts.

She creates interiors that carry a pulse — layered, luminous, and deeply personal. Spaces that do not merely exist, but live.
